MESA snapshot to be integrated into XFree86

Frank LaMonica writes "Brian Paul, the owner of MESA, has authorized Precision Insight Inc. (PI) to use a snapshot of Mesa 3.0 in its effort to create a complete open source 3D Multipipe Direct Rendering Infrastructure within XFree86 4.0. This Mesa 3.0 snapshot will be called X-Mesa, and will be licensed under the XFree86 style license (BSD/MIT) so that all X-Mesa source code and its derivatives can be freely distributed as an integral part of a future version of XFree86. X-Mesa will contain the complete MESA 3.0 source tree minus GLU, and some driver modules which don?t pertain to X. The existing Mesa 3.0 GPL licensed version and its derivatives will be maintained and continued by Brian Paul. "
