CNETNate writes "To advance its Street View service this summer, Google is poised to unleash the unstoppable power of human legs. This summer, Google will deploy pedal-powered tricycles — 'Google Trikes', according to Google — mounted with 360 degree Street View cameras to map areas inaccessible by its fleet of Street View cars."

  • Bicycles (and tricycles) aren't allowed on Footpaths in the UK. That's one of the distinguishing features of a footpath.
  • My home town (Seattle) is full of stairs that run up and down through greenbelt areas which are too steep to easily build on.

While I think it would be funny to run the GoogleTrikes down the staircases, it might not give the sort of results they're looking for.
