An anonymous reader writes "The long-awaited Russian stealth fighter, codenamed PAK FA or T-50, has had its first test flight today (see a Reuters article and a Google translate of a Russian article). Production is supposed to begin in 2015. The aircraft's shape and specifications remain classified — the dozens of 3D renders sloshing around the intertubes are almost certainly fake — but it's reportedly designed to compete with America's F-22 (first flight: 1997).
According to Wikipedia, Japan is planning to have the first flight of its own stealth fighter, the ATD-X — previously discussed on Slashdot — in 2011."

The plane's looks have been declassified and the first photos are becoming available [lenta.ru] along with a video of a taxiing test [youtube.com] that took place in December.
