An anonymous reader writes "The problems with e-voting are not the technology, its implementations or the vendors in the US it is really the lack of standardized laws across jurisdictions that would allow a single electronic voting system to be created in a secure and effective manner. If a single means of running elections and creating ballots was mandated by the federal government, as it is in other countries where successful e-voting has taken place, do you think that an open source voting platform could be successful in the US?
