An anonymous reader writes "Comcast is offering a new 50mbps/6mbps package for residential customers for $150. With all the controversy lately over their bit torrent throttling and stories of their low quality "HD" programming one has to wonder where this extra speed is coming from. It seems that they were already having troubles with their network capacity. True most people won't buy a $150 internet package but for those who do they'll probably be making use of that bandwidth, and they'll be using 10+ times the amount as someone could on the standard cable package."
