TP Datacenter Explosion - 9,000 Servers Offline-> 1

Submitted by Anonymous Coward
An anonymous reader writes "Customers hosting with ThePlanet, a major Texas hosting provider, are going through some tough times. Overnight a electrical short caused a fire and explosion in the power room, knocking out walls and taking the entire facility offline. No-one was hurt.

Estimates suggest this has 9,000 servers offline, with ETA's for repair of at least 24 hours from issue onset.

While they claim redundant power, because of the nature of the problem they had to go dark completely.

This serves to show, murphy's law is still in effect."

TP Datacenter Explosion - 9,000 Servers Offline

  • Power has been up for 2 days now, and thousands of servers are still down. (mine included, 300 sites offline.) Got through to phone tech support & they say no end in site. They are "working through reboot tickets in the order received". I didn't put in a ticket until tuesday (oh btw my server is down, in case you were unaware of the problem...). They are too big and just don't have enough people to push all the buttons.
