OK, this story has received remarkably little press, other than in Denver, where even here it is not getting much coverage at all. Google News just has two pages on this guy, and most of that is from Denver and this guy's home town in Canada.
Anyway, here's what happened:
A Muslim from Canada, who has no job, drives a rental car to Denver. In Denver, he stays at one of the finest hotels in town (+200$/day, about 2 blocks from the state capitol) for about a week, then is found dead with a pound of cyanide and $2500 in his room. This, just over a week away from the Democratic Convention.
Strangeness:
- He has no job, yet rents a car and stays in a fine Denver hotel.
- No one is saying how long he was supposed to stay at the hotel.
- The FBI is saying that he "committed suicide" (a pound of cyanide? That's um.... 'overkill') and told his relatives he was going to Denver "for vacation"
- The FBI says there is no reason to think this guy was involved with terrorism or intended to kill anyone but himself.
I'm not saying I don't believe the FBI, I'm just saying I believe I'm not going downtown during the convention.
