I am in the middle of trying to transfer some of my RegisterFly domains to Moniker.[1] What a pain in the ass this is! I can't justify transferring all the domains out, because that will cost me too much[2] but I will transfer the 8 names I really don't want to lose. Naturally RegisterFly (like most domain name registrars) make it danged near impossible to bulk edit your domains to prepare to transfer them away. Sure, if you want to change a bunch of settings across all your domains, the bulk edit tools work fine, but for unlocking domains, removing domain privacy and getting authorisation codes you have to do one domain at a time. And it is dog slow.
I am lucky though. Because I never really trusted Registerfly, I only registered a small number of relatively unimportant names there, and those only when RegisterFly had their $0.60
[1] Why am I transferring to Moniker? They have a very good reputation amongst domainers and while they charge a little bit more than GoDaddy and some of the others, the extra I pay is well worth the peace of mind.
[2] Domain transfers must include a one year extension, so my $0.60 names are costing me $6.95 to transfer to Moniker, but I get an extra year on the registration.
So this weekend sees the . Last year I attended the Saturday qualifying sessions and had a great time and I have attended the practice sessions a couple of times throughout the years. This year though I don't think I'll bother. Due to a scheduling clash, the V8 Supercars aren't participating and for me, the V8s and F1s are the only two I really care about. I could do without the madcap antics of the "celebrity challenge"; the Carerra Cup is kinda cool, but meh; not interested in Formula 3; and V8 utes just aren't the same as V8 Supercars. So if I go on Saturday, I will get to see a total of 2 hours of Formula 1 action - one hour of practice and one hour of qualifying with a couple of hours wandering aimlessly around the grounds in between. $85 for 2 hours is a bit rich for my liking - sure, I'd also get to see the F/A 18 aerial display (which, admittedly, is awesome) and the Blackhawk helicopters and it looks like the Navy will have the Squirrels on display briefly too. Nah - I think I'll stay home and watch the action on TV. Hopefully next year the V8s will be back...
The "Opinion Center" is now an orangey colour, more likely than not in an effort to make it more noticeable in the hope that some foolhardy people will click on the link. Meh. At least now the section is collapsible, so I can hide it somewhat...
It's interesting to note that no-one seems to have commented on the dumping of the AMD spam journals/articles and the arrival of the Intel spam.
How we doin' with Saturn6.org? Let me know when you get yourself an account at Moniker so I can push the domain over to you...
