Cloud providers changing plans and costs on a whim is a good reason to keep on-prem solutions. You'd have to be nuts to compromise your own business by using cloud provider services that you can't pick up and move at a moment's notice.
Yeah, we've all done that problem, the Saint Bernard dog with the bunch of tapes instead of the brandy barrel, running at 25km/h, or an ISDN line to the top 10km away.
