when it comes to billing, they want to all get rich like bill gates or something, since so much is depending on internet like paying bills and shopping for groceries i think the internet should be a utility like city municipal water, sanitation services or gas & electric, and all these broadband monopolies should be forced to either lower their prices to a reasonable rate or subcontract a percentage to the city or county or state (whatever applies under jurisdiction)
We already tried that carriers must set " prices to a reasonable rate" thing. Then when we stopped having the government set prices, they immediately dropped 80%, then 90%. Calling from one side of Dallas to the other was 24 cents per minute under the government rates. Cross country could be almost a dollar a minute.
Then the government stopped setting the rate and immediately rates went to ten cents, then lower.
Yeah, and if it weren't for that oppressive SOCIALIST central planning, the US wouldn't have had the best electric, phone, and road infrastructure in the First World until the late 20th century. They even forced city dwellers to pay the same amount as rural folks, even though running lines in rural areas was many times more costly.
Now, after 40+ years of neoliberalism, our infrastructure is just the opposite: a crumbling patchwork that no one wants to take responsbility for. The American people deserve better.
