Spotify Triples Free-Trial Period on Premium Service (variety.com) 13

Spotify today extended the free-trial period for its Premium service from one month to three, tripling the amount of time listeners can take full advantage of the streaming giant's offerings without paying for them. From a report: According to the announcement, the offer is "always-on/not limited time," and will roll out across Spotify Premium plans globally: Individual and Student (where available) starting today, as well as Family (where available) and Duo (where available) in the coming months. The announcement notes that the free trial is open only to users who haven't already tried Premium (and is "not available on Headspace, non-recurring products and most carrier billing (except for individual in JP, AU, DE, CH and Student in JP)."

    Useless article.

    • Can I please get my bitrate increased up to 96 Kbps?
      • Strange article...

I signed up for a 3 month trial like about 2x months ago....

I don't think this is particularly new...?

        • I also doubt it's for any other reason than to give you more time to forget you signed up for the trial so they can start charging your credit card when it expires.

            Possibly.

Usually for these type offers, as soon as I sign up for them, I make an entry on my phone calendar to remind me when to end it.

I think I'm gonna keep this. I did have the paid Amazon Prime Music, the extra version, but one weekend, I wanted to listen to something that should be common anywhere..Boston's first album.

            It used to be ther

I'm getting 320 Kbps right now. Listening to the new Santana album, which is smoking hot.

  • Music taste gets fixed between 12 and 18.
With a free trial VPN you can download _all_ the music produced during that period and all the periods before and after.

  • Variety is now a tech source?

  • *THREE MONTHS!?* THREE - AND NOT ONE. You're saying like around NINETY DAYS OF SWEET SPOTIFY ACTION before I can pay Spotify to rip off artists?

Holy shit, someone grab my axe and merkin, I'm gonna climb up the nearest hill, rip off the merkin, and windmill my shit in this gleaming, numinous, glorious dawn.

THREE MONTHS. MY GOD YOU'VE LOST YOUR MINDS.

    • I AM with you on the rip off part. They enforce tracking parameters for their urls on stuff like twitter now too. Someday soon, I'll figure out Live36. And do a barrel roll! At least I won't be in an abusive relationship where they get traffic bumps, while I can't even keep my premium service when my bank fails to do its job. And if that's not annoying enough, if/when that occurs, the family account linking is broken. Still haven't fixed that one; I'll just move on soonish. %s
