FTC May Try To Delay Facebook's Plan To Integrate its Apps (cnn.com) 9

Facebook's stock took a dive on Thursday following a report that federal regulators may seek to prevent the company from more tightly integrating its social media products. From a report: The Federal Trade Commission is said to be considering asking for a court order to delay Facebook from making the services it owns, including WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook Messenger, interoperable with one another, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter. Shares of Facebook fell more than 3 percent in afternoon trading Thursday after the news broke.

  • This will go nowhere. Now the FTC is going to tell a company how to develop its own software, preventing them from giving their customers increased capabilities? Fuck them. The time to worry about this was before the acquisitions. It's just dumb internet social media shit anyway.
    • Chances are the FTC is considering breaking up Facebook and want to delay the integration in case they decide to act on it.

You mean profiting further off their customers' data? You kind of got that backwards. Your same argument could have held for Microsoft and it's integration of the IE browser into the OS back in 1998. Guess where that went?

  • because Facebook is simply broken to begin with. Delete.
  • Where are all the free market politicos screaming about interfering with the invisible hand of the free market? Oh that's right, they are fair-weather fans.

Follow the money. Who is profiting from this? Which politicians will shortly get donations to doink the leashes of the regulators, everyone acting like it's the rogue action here rather than core design?

I want detailed deltas of before and after of the wealth of politicians and all their family.
