Amazon Hires Former Executive Adam Selipsky To Run AWS

Amazon has chosen Adam Selipsky to run its Amazon Web Services division. Currently, Selipsky is CEO of Salesforce-owned data-visualization software maker Tableau. Andy Jassy made the decision as the current head of AWS, after he was chosen to replace Jeff Bezos as CEO of Amazon. CNBC reports: Amazon rules the market for public cloud infrastructure that companies use to run internal and external applications, a modern alternative to relying on in-house servers, storage and networking equipment. In 2019 industry research company Gartner estimated that Amazon had 45% of the market, more than any other company, including Microsoft and Google. As such, Selipsky becomes the most visible person in the growing industry, perhaps second only to Jassy, who enters a bigger job when he becomes Amazon CEO in the third quarter.

Selipsky is one of the people several insiders had identified as a possible successor to Jassy. Selipsky had held a prominent position inside AWS, as vice president for sales, marketing and support, before leaving to run then-public Tableau in 2016. Salesforce bought Tableau for $15.7 billion in 2019.

You are absolutely right. Amazon proved to be an unreliable service provider and it certainly won't be considered for my present or future projects.

I don't like Amazon and won't use them for other reasons. But FFS if you violate the ToS for months and ignore your vendor's requests so stop violating them then what do you expect? I can assure you that everyone out there has terms of service and if you violate your end of the contract it will be terminated.

If you are going to run anything critical to your business, should you at least read and understand the contract at hand, and make sure your business plan doesn't violate it?

I have seen so many cases of Businesses going Boo Hoo I Have these problems because I just went the cheapest option available and hit accept next to the terms, without reading them. Now I am in violation of these terms and it is affecting my business.

You are not forced to use AWS, sure it may be cheaper than having your own server farm

The problem is that is becoming true.
The CEO use to be a job in the background, where your sales team is what is being faced to the public. While the CEO is dealing with budgets and working with upper management to make sure the business units are aligned.
However with a few Rock Star CEO's like Steve Jobs, who loved the lime light it made people see the CEO as more than the Top Administrator but the voice and actions of the company.

For all the good things about AWS, there are probably a half dozen half-created features and "yes, you can do that if you enable half a dozen more resources" type problems. Then there are the raft of overlapping features - each with their pros and cons. I sure hope they fix some of that crap.
