WhatsApp Will Add Multi-Device Support, Introduce 'View Once' Disappearing Feature 20

WhatsApp will soon let you use the popular instant messaging app simultaneously on multiple devices, Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said. The instant messaging app, used by more than 2 billion users, also plans to add more options to its disappearing messages feature, top executives said. TechCrunch reports: Zuckerberg confirmed to news outlet WaBetaInfo that multi-device support will be arriving on the instant messaging service "soon." WhatsApp head Will Cathcart said users will be able to connect up to four devices to one account. The messaging firm is also working to introduce a dedicated WhatsApp app for the iPad, he said. The instant messaging service, which last year introduced the ability to set a seven-day timer on messages (disappearing mode), is now planning to expand this feature to let users share pictures and videos that can only be viewed once. WhatsApp users will also get an option to enforce disappearing mode across the app for all new chats. Zuckerberg and Cathcart told the news outlet -- and it's indeed the two of them talking -- that these features will be available to users in public beta "in the next month or two."

Yo, Zuck the Fuck: Why the hell use WhatsApp with its Facebook pollution when there are other alternatives out there like Signal? Enquiring minds want to know. No, we actually don't give a fuck about you, Mr. Roboto.
  • I have friends I can reach only on WhatsApp. It makes no sense that I can't log in to my WhatsApp account on a tablet or other device, besides my phone.

    • I have friends I can reach only on WhatsApp.

      Predictable troll reply:

Then perhaps they aren't really worth reaching at all.

I don't have any friends that I *could* reach on WhatsApp.

      • I don't know about you, but my friends are important to me. On the other hand, this is slashdot, where people comment on article summaries from the comfort of their parents' basement. For such a person, cutting off a friend because they only use WhatsApp might seem logical. To some of us, friendships are important enough that we are willing to use a less-than-favorite method of communication in order to stay in touch.

In mainland China it works a little differently. You post a message and then YOU disappear.

    • Don't worry. The info won't disappear. GCHQ, NAS, LE, advertisers etc will be able to access forever what you thought was transitory. You and the recipient(s) won't, or course.

  • In Communist China message disappears you.
  • I don't care. There is a war on users going on. Formerly reputable web sites don't seem to have any scruples using dark patterns to get users to allow tracking. Facebook and Whatsapp are hardly the only ones who keep pestering users. But Facebook agreed to never merge user data when it bought Whatsapp. This is the casus belli. As a matter of principle, "Facebook delenda est".
  • Easy solution, maybe: require under federal law that each service take legal responsibility for every statement made on their platform. Each decides, under law, what they will produce. https://writemyessaysonline.co... [writemyessaysonline.com]
  • Thank You for your kind help. Got it working on the phone and desktop now. Still it's not working on the tablet. If the hash board in the mining machine does not work normally, it may be a problem with the hash board chip. The high-quality Antminer BM1397AD chip [zeusbtc.com] is a replacement for the hash board chip. You can continue to work by replacing it with the Antminer BM1397AD chip. It is suitable for the replacement of hash board chips for Antminer S17, S17pro, etc.
