Logitech CEO Bracken Darrell Resigns (betanews.com) 13

Logitech made a major announcement this week, revealing that Bracken Darrell, the company's president and CEO, will be leaving to pursue a new opportunity. From a report: Darrell's resignation from his positions as president, CEO, and board member is effective immediately. However, he will stay with the company for the next month to ensure a smooth transition. As part of their succession planning process, Logitech has appointed board member Guy Gecht as the interim CEO while they conduct a global search for potential candidates from both within and outside the company. Regarding Guy Gecht, it's important to note that he has been a non-executive member of Logitech's board since September 2019. Prior to taking on the interim CEO role, Gecht served on Logitech's Audit Committee and chaired the Technology and Innovation Committee. The move comes at a time when Logitech is struggling with revenues as people return to schools and offices.

  • stuff. Logitech has been reliable for years and it would be nice if they avoid the status instant pot has with bankruptcy because venture capitalism wanted one extra squeeze of dollars.

Yes the problem is with capitalism because even after changing from gold standard to fiat in the 1970s the money supply not circulating as much to include wages being better is leading to low quality in everything even games. Maybe that digital currency helps even if it is a step closer to being on the digital grid for everyo

Maybe that digital currency helps even if it is a step closer to being on the digital grid for everyone for having wealth go around so much easier.

This isn't comprehendible english. Care to try again?

VC gives you a bad deal up front, but takes a risk. PE gives you a bad deal after you close, and takes a limited risk. It is PE that caused the Instant Pot problem.

    • Reliable for years: horseshit. Their security camera line was sent an "upgrade" that effectively bricked the device, then they walked away from the entire line. One or another of their webcams has autofuckus rather than autofocus. Their mice are decent, though.

Instant Pot has nothing to do with venture capital, and everything to do with capital bold face L LBO.

  • Maybe this guy will bring the harmony remotes back. I didn't like the device limits, it seems like you always had 1 component more than the remote supported, but they were still the best value in universal remotes.

    • or the G13 gaming keyboard
    • Yes, this! Nobody makes a decent universal remote anymore. I guess they figure everyone wants to control their TV with a ridiculous phone app or some shit.

If they ended the Harmony remotes because they were making so much money on webcams for WFH, then maybe now is the time to resurrect the Harmony line.

    • I’m so annoyed they killed Harmony. By far the best product they made. I wish I’d bought the version that supported Bluetooth before they vanished

  • Logitech stopped producing OEM stuff not long ago because it wasn't as profitable as the higher end stuff.

They not only lost business and market share, but gave it to their competitors that can use to to gain traction against them.

btw, razor brands sucks, colosal sized driver and login to the internet required. So I hope Logitech continues.

  • I've been using a marble mouse for years and it's been great for mitigating carpel tunnel. I bought a few on ebay after they discontinued them to hopefully last my career, but it would be nice to get some new ones.

    • An updated mechanical version of the G13 gameboard is long wanted as well, lots of classics in their stable, although presumably some of them would end up boutique in pricing I think PC peripheral fans have shown they like to spend more than makes sense from time to time.
  • Everybody knows Blue Yeti.
    Nobody knows Logitech G9.
    It's the dumbest thing ever.
