Several Meta Employees Have Started Calling Themselves 'AI Builders'

An anonymous reader shares a report: Meta product managers are rebranding. Some are now calling themselves "AI builders," a signal that AI coding tools are changing who gets to build software inside the company. One of them, Jeremie Guedj, announced the change in a LinkedIn post last week. "I still can't believe I'm writing this: as of today, my full-time job at Meta is AI Builder," he wrote.

Guedj has spent more than a decade as a traditional product manager, a role that sets the road map and strategy for products then built by engineering teams. He said that while his title in Meta's internal systems still lists him as a product manager, his actual work is now full-time building with AI on what he calls an "AI-native team." Another Meta product manager also lists "AI Builder" on her LinkedIn profile, while at least two other Meta engineers write the term in their bios, Business Insider found.

If they're right about how pervasive this crap will be, this is like a carpenter calling themselves a "Saw User". If they're wrong, it is like calling themselves a "Fax Machine Specialist".

Here's what the bosses think an AI developer does: "main() Make a game better than hungry birds; " Done.
Here's what I found on coding websites.: "line of C code, call some AI object, line of C code, call some AI function......."

There might be a couple of skeezy business side people that would take the name to score points of upper management but nobody would willingly call themselves something that's stupid let alone something that stupid that devalues their skill set that much

'AI Builder' is a glorification. I figure that what this product manager person does is feed requirements into AI and get back some implementation plans. AI might even put the JIRA dashboards together for him. A definite worksaver but he ain't building no AI.

Back in the before days, my company did a small run of business cards for us geek types. They didn't reality check what we put on the cards, so my job title was Head Cheese.
