'It's DOOM, but You Can Cut, Copy and Paste Opponents' (adafruit.com) 13

From the Adafruit blog: Greg Technology (aka Greg Sadetsky) on YouTube demonstrates a version of Chocolate Doom where opponent characters can be cut, copied, and pasted at will to add a bit more fun to the game.
Obviously this means you can paste in your attackers multiple times. ("They're kind of not really happy if you do that..." Greg says at one point in the video. "But then, you can also cut them... like, vaccuum them out.")

In response to a comment on YouTube, Sadetsky explained that "It stores a reference to the kind of monster (every monster has a unique type number).

"So yeah, you could paste them across games!"

That does seem like an interesting thing for multiplayer games .. if you had some sort of weapon or ability to teleport one of the monsters across to your opponents scene or even partner to handle.

    • I would've been a much better Doom player if I'd had this ability!

    • You should check out the "Corruption Cards" mod for GZDoom. It does all kinds of wacky stuff from randomly teleporting enemies, generating random earthquakes, turning killed enemies into ghosts, making volcanoes pop up, and adding killer chickens.

I made a custom mod pack that includes the Brutal Doom and Corruption Cards mods, and multiplies most enemies by 10. It's wicked fun.

  • I played castle Wolfenstein original and 3d, doom, quake, Duke Nukem... But this sounds totally uninteresting. Like aren't there game engine editors that can do this?
    • You should watch the video it will be right up your alley. Spoiler: It ends with "I don't know why I did this. Okay bye!"

Yeah even the creator thought it was meh.

      • Yet the world found out about it somehow... So clearly he thought it was special enough to post about.

Not really. Lots of people put videos / blog posts of the work they do online. His entire youtube channel is full of posts of him just fucking around. I doubt he thinks its special.

If you could "cut" enemies and "paste" them to be on your team, that could be kinda awesome. I mean, who wouldn't want to have a Cyberdemon for backup on the harder levels?
