But throughout this ongoing crusade to keep the ’net democratic and free, one might ask: how did it even get that way in the first place?   • Having read about this in the summer, AT&T was at some point interested in using/purchasing the Arpanet. Now While technically at that point the Arpanet was the biggest computer network it doesn't mean that AT&T would have ended up with the Internet. One key factor that catalyzed the connection of other networks and the formation of the Internet was the fact that there was no central corporate authority governing the Arpanet.
