I would imagine that they use the simulatore before they get to cut on cadavers. In any case, I wouldn't want my doctor to be right out of med school.

I recently watched a Google Tech Talk about a video game that trains the exact same skills as arthroscopic surgery. The game is designed so that you can play it with Wii nunchuck controller, or with a custom controller rig that duplicates the equipment used for arthroscopic surgery.
One interesting point: they built a training facility, but the simulators were not fun, and medical students used the training facility as little as they could manage. The game is designed to be fun so people will play it willi
