.xxx Registrar To Launch Pr0n Search Engine 149

angry tapir writes "The company behind the .xxx top-level domain plans to launch a search engine in an effort to drive more traffic to .xxx websites and give pornography fans a more satisfying search experience. ICM Registry, which operates the 9-month-old .xxx TLD, is scheduled to launch Search.xxx this week, said Stuart Lawley, ICM's CEO. The new search engine will give users a more streamlined searching process, help protect them from viruses and malware and help guard their privacy, he said. The search engine has cataloged 21 million webpages from .xxx sites, he said. 'It's porn, only porn, all porn,' he said. 'There's as much porn there as anyone would need, I'd imagine.'"

I kinda agree, where porn includes sex.

Thanks to the Internet, women have found that there is a *huge* demand for their bodies, and that they don't even have to leave their rooms to provide that demand and to obtain whatever people are prepared to trade in return for it.

So while fifteen years ago you were competing against the guys in your neighbourhood in person, today you're competing against the world with a webcam.

Yeah. Turn off safe search and type in "Clown Porn". Go ahead, I'll wait.

Ooh! "Dolphin Sex" is another good one!

It only took me one search to realize that you need to include "Document Preparation System" in any search involving "LaTeX"!

It seems that the "Leather Hat" search doesn't have the topless male model in a leather hat in the first few hits anymore. If you click over to images and scroll down, you'll find him though!

Ok, now that we're warmed up... Click over to images and enter "Penis Torture Device"! Oh yeah! Although you still get better results on Amazon for that search than you do on Google Shopping...

What? Someone has to come up with these! Don't judge me!

          Heh heh heh

          • We're not judging you because you're relaying these search terms.

The entire premise is stupid. There is no such as "too much porn" because people have different interests. While you can pretty much find anything - and if you can't, there's people who do clips when you order from them - some niches can still be quite small. And let me tell you, people love their niches. For example I like japanese massage porn. If that's what turns me on, then hairy grandmas 58 isn't going to help much.

I once fixed someone's computer and found his porn stash on there (it wasn't exactly well hidden). There was gigabytes of it... ALL of which was facial cumshots. Definitely a clear interest in that one.

You sir have grossly underestimated the Internet porn surfing public.

Hmm, I wonder. You see, the porn industry has been complaining for a long time about hard times (yes, I know, a pun of sorts, but not intended). I think the truth of the matter is that pornography only really attracts those who have been unable to find anything better in their lives, which is really sad. Pornography seems always to be disappointing - plasticky looking Ken and Barbie types mechanically doing things and looking utterly bored. I am, by the way, from Denmark, where people are incredibly open-minded and at it all the time, everywhere, as we all know, so I know what I am talking about.

Sex is nice, but vastly overhyped. Like anything enjoyable, it becomes trivial when you have had enough, and that happens much sooner than you imagine as a teenager; and it's a good thing really, because there is so much more to life than screwing around.

You quite clearly don't get out much. The great thing about internet porn is the variety. Yes there is plasticky bored looking good looking people having sex, but there is also ugly people, amateurs, young, old, fat, skinny, gay, trannies, hairy, shaved, dwarves, giants, every race, colour, creed all doing all sorts of things to each other for your pleasure. Everyone has different desires and pornography caters to most of them.

      • I don't see anything wrong with a desire to categorize information on the Internet. Yes, .com porn will still exist, but if the company that owns .xxx can keep the sites under it in check and make it a safe place to find porn, I think that will attract more people than ever, which in turn draw more to the domain. I like to think of it as the Las Vegas of the Internet. So long as the place can be kept within a certain degree of control, it's all good to let loose.

  • This could work out well. One of my main criticisms behind the whole xxx TLD has been that it wouldn't really lessen the amount of porn under other TLD's. Having a search engine designed for it, especially if they limit the results to only the xxx TLD, would give incentive for companies to migrate over to xxx.

      I believe it is intentional.

      From Wikipedia [wikipedia.org]

Pr0n is slang for pornography.[1] This is a deliberately inaccurate spelling/pronunciation for porn,[14] where a zero is often used to replace the letter O. It is sometimes used in legitimate communications (such as email discussion groups, Usenet, chat rooms, and internet web pages) to circumvent language and content filters, which may reject messages as offensive or spam. The word also helps prevent search engines from associating commercial sites with pornography, which might result in unwelcome traffic.
