Drone Drops Hundreds of Marijuana Bags On Tel Aviv (gizmodo.com) 40
Long-time Slashdot reader destinyland writes: A drone over Tel Aviv's Rabin Square dropped hundreds of bags of weed on Thursday, setting off a mad scramble by onlookers to stock up, the Jerusalem Post reported.
According to the Post, the giveaway was orchestrated by a Telegram group called Green Drone that advocates for the legalization of marijuana throughout Israel. (Medical marijuana is legal in Israel and a major export as of May; the Ministry of Security partially decriminalized recreational marijuana use in 2017 but full legalization efforts are still being negotiated.) The group told followers on Telegram that this was just the start of an ongoing "rain of cannabis...."
The Times of Israel, however, reported that the weed-dropping drone might have had more to do with viral marketing than activism: the Green Drone channel is also a marijuana delivery service. Yes, thr land existed before anyone lived there. Is that your point?
Or you're pointing out that a very long time ago the word "Palestine" was used to denote generally different parts of that general region - to mean the land of the Phillistines, or the land of the Jews,or the land of the Jews and Philistines, which at different times have been home to the Samaritans, the Assyrians, etc.? Yeah, the general area more or less around the Eastern Mediterranean has been called many names, with the name "Palestine" popping up every now and again.
For a short time starting in 1922, that name was even used for a specific area, with defined borders.
On the other hand, the name Israel has been consistently used for 2,500 years to denote a nation, a group of people.
The word "Palestinian" came into use primarily in the 1970s, with some use since the 1920s. It was defined by Yasser Arafat's organization to mean "any of the several groups who had roots along the Eastern Mediterranean *unless they're Jews*. In that way, the definition was more inclusive than the European analog, "Aryan".

If so, I'm curious which nation you have in mind, the Phillistines, the Samaritans? Certainly you're not thinking of the Turks (Ottoman Empire), because that would be at least 2,000 years after the Jews, not before.

Your main point is true. Various people's have been fighting over Palestine for at least a couple thousand years.
For 2,500 of those years, "Palestinians" was like "Californians" - whoever happened to live there at the moment. Typically about three different nations at any given time. The Palestinians were mostly Jews for those 2,500 years.
It wasn't until the 1970s that somebody (Yasser Arafat) widely claimed to represent "the Palestinians" to fight with the Jews, thereby redefining the word to mean "anybody who isn't a Jew" in common usage. Originally that movement started (but didn't gain popular acceptance) abiut 50 years after the term "Aryan" was similarly redefined to mean "not Jewish". (Originally Aryan meant Iranian.)

Pre-trial incarceration ( ie. being arrested and put in jail on reasonable suspicion of having committed an offence) is usually the norm the world over.
Three of the countries you mentioned, UK Australia and NZ have a better judicial system ranking than the US - 13th , 11th and 7th compared to the US's rank of 21 according to https://worldjusticeproject.or... [worldjusticeproject.org]
