India is restoring 4G internet services in Jammu and Kashmir, a senior government official said Friday evening, 18 months after cutting internet access in the Muslim-majority state in an attempt to curb the spread of potential backlash over its decision to strip the region of its special status in August of 2019. From a report: Rohit Kansal, principal secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir government, said 4G internet services were being restored in the entire region. India lifted ban on internet and some social media services in two districts (of 20) of the state last year but maintained speed restrictions and time limits, after Supreme Court ruled last year that an indefinite shutdown of the internet in the state was unwarranted and demonstrated "abuse of power" by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government. The internet ban in Jammu and Kashmir was by far the longest by any democracy.

The previous governments looked for affirmation from the West, tried to follow the nostra (or nostrums) prescribed by the West, freedom of speech, etc etc. Attacks happened, riots happened, there was no peace no security.

Previous governments had one major riot every 3 years and a small one in Ahmadabad every Friday afternoon
Blindly following the Western media and arm chair sociologists in New York is not going to help India. It found its own way to deal with the terrorists. It found its own way to deal with Covid.
May be, now that Capitol is attacked by terrorists, the West can take a look and see how India is managing to survive as a democracy with several major religions (80% hindu, 12% muslim, 4% christian, rest Sikhs, Buddists and Jains), 15 major languages, several hundred dialects, a few thousand castes. All with low literacy rates too.
Rural poor uneducated Whites could not even cope with a transition from super majority to simple majority, on the way to plurality in 2042. Learn from India. Do not get all high and mighty and get very preachy to India.
Did you notice one thing? Every major liberal democracy in Western Europe is overwhelmingly mono-ethnic. Truth be told, India should be seen as a beacon of Democracy, inspiring hope that a multi-ethnic society can have democracy.
