Georgia Gets a Second Electric Vehicle Facility? Hyundai Plans $7B Plant (apnews.com) 23

Hyundai is expected to announce that it's building "a massive electric vehicle plant near Savannah, Georgia," reports the Associated Press, citing a U.S. official "familiar with the anticipated announcement."

The plant is expected to bring thousands of new jobs to Georgia. The plant could grow to include 8,500 employees and would be built on a 2,200-acre (890-hectare) site that state and local governments own near the hamlet of Ellabell, Georgia, said two people familiar with Georgia's talks with Hyundai.... The second person said Hyundai would invest more than $7 billion and could also build some cars powered by gasoline engines at the site, with an announcement in Georgia set for May 20...

It would be the second massive electric vehicle plant announced in Georgia in less than a year. Rivian Automotive in December announced it would build a $5 billion, 7,500-job electric truck plant about 45 miles (70 kilometers) east of Atlanta.

Blue states talk. Red states do.

Blue states fund red states actually.

Eight of the 10 states most dependent on the federal government were Republican-voting, with the average red state receiving $1.35 per dollar spent.

Nine states sent more to the federal government than they received — seven of these were Democrat-voting and had higher per capita GDPs than many of the red states that received the most.

The eight states receiving the highest child tax credit per capita were all Republican-voting.

Democratic-voting blue states tend to be wealthier and pay more to the federal government than they get. In contrast, Republican-voting red states tend to have less wealth and receive more federal government funds than they pay.

Blue states make money, Red states suck up money.

          GOP = Gaslight, Obstruct, Project.

          • Citations? Really want to know what's being said is true. Or false, as the case might be.

As I understand it, we're currently about 50-50 on "run by republicans" and "run by democrats", so the numbers should be just about even.

I know that some of the states are run by one party, but contain a lot people in the other.

And "highest per capita" means a lot when you deal with states like Illinois, where Chicago beats the hell out of a lot of other cities in that state when it comes to things-per-capita.

              • Interesting collection of data points.

Not seeing much in the way of "these states are XXXX" affiliations. Guessing that one has to choose what to call each state (republican or democrat) before deciding what data to apply to which group.

So, to resolve the "republican vs. democrat" controversy, do you want to provide a list of state affiliations? What you've provided so far can be distributed whichever way one feels like assigning "blame".

                • Why ask people to do your work? You too lazy to google it and research it yourself? Waiting for people to spoon feed you information isn't an impressive trait. Nor do they owe you a damn thing. However, this laziness is a trait that a lot of people who don't like to have their world view questioned often have. I can only assume you fall into that category.
                  • Assuming you were referring to me rather than the original poster of data needing referencing, I'll ask you the question, then.

A lot of statements were made about how things "are". No information was presented which backed those assertions. I asked for such data. The original poster then put up a number of links that present a blizzard of information... but no facts to back up his (her?) case.

Since you apparently have such facts, please present them. I'm interested in how the assertions that "republican run

Which is the way it should be.

Democrats believe in tax-and-spend, while Republicans don't like paying taxes but still like the benefits.

So everybody gets what they want.

        • Also, to quote Ben Shapiro.

Facts don't care about your feelings.

Lazy ass Republicans should get a job.

    • Wait... You're cheering for electric cars? Aren't you going to go out and roll coal? What kind of MAGAt are you? Why are you supporting the causes of soy milk drinking ivory tower elitists where all the money is going to go back to a foreign company in a different country? WHY DO YOU HATE AMERICA?

I don't get why you hate conservatives, conservative-led government, and oil companies. A true MAGA supporter would be protesting this plant as just another tool of the global satanic trafficking elites. There's
