Google Renames NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook 4
Google is renaming NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook, but will keep it a standalone app even as it ties more closely into Gemini and Google Search. "Google says it plans to bring notebooks to AI Mode, its chatbot-like experience in Search, too," reports The Verge. From the report: Along with the name change, Google is rolling out an update announced last month that allows Gemini Notebook to connect to a secure cloud computer to write and execute code. This feature is available to Google AI Ultra and Workspace business customers, but will come to Pro users on the web "over the coming weeks."

I was wondering if they were going to do this super-obvious improvement.
I want to sic AI on my own collection of documents specific to the context. This change seems to allow for that without having to set up a billion different MCP connections and having the AI stumble it's way through tool use.
Kind of a redundant product now (Score:2)
It lets you upload Acrobat files and ask questions about the documents. Yes, a year or two ago, that was cool. But now you can just open an Acrobat file in any browser, and ask questions about it in the browser's integrated AI. No need to upload into Google's Notebook.
