Wine 11.14 Released

Wine 11.14 is out with initial WoW64 mode support on FreeBSD, allowing 32-bit Windows applications to run on a 64-bit system without relying on 32-bit multilib support. The release also adds Start Menu icon support in Wine Explorer, 7.1 format conversions in DirectSound, AES-GMAC support in BCrypt, and 21 bug fixes affecting apps and games including Adobe Reader, Heroes of the Storm, and Age of Empires I and II. I suppose FEX might be able to be used to emulate x86_64 (and run Wine) after Apple pulls the plug on Rosetta 2 (although performance will probably an issue for some).

In theory, big chunks of Rosseta 2 are still on MacOS, for specialized purposes, in particular gaming, as staed by Apple themselves. So maybe, Wine on Mac can work with that.

Me? I Bootcamped before, and will bootcamp until 2028.

Microsoft Office?

A decade ago, I was hoping that Wine would help me run Microsoft Office applications. Looking at one application: Wine app database lists Microsoft Excel, but the latest version is from 2016. What's even more surprising is that "Microsoft Office (installer only)" has a version from later year (including silver support for a 2019 version). Is there any hope?
