VQF music format

Danny writes "A friend told me about vqf.com which has source code and players for the MPEG 4 music format; they claim 30% smaller file size then mp3, with greater fidelity. " This format doesn't solve the legal issues surrounding MP3s and their distribution, but the site does claim that VQFs are 3/4ths the size with better quality. I'd never heard of it before, anyone have any experience with them that they'd like to share? The site has source code, but I didn't see a Linux port.
