Mozilla GTK+ Port
An anonymous tipster let me in on a worthy announcement:
Chris Toshok, Netscape hacker, has begun work on a GTK+ port
of the Mozilla front-end (fe). Apparently, Chris is the best
person to do such a port. His announcement reads: "So, just
after the qtfe announcement, and the subsequent touting of
their toolkit, I got a bit disgusted and decided I'd write
an FE based on gnome/gtk, and I'd do it alone, and I'd do it
in the same or less time than it took them". I think this is great,
mainly because I love GNOME (SlashApp betas are floating around...). Read on
for the rest of the announcement.
"Well, I only got two days into it before I realized I just
couldn't devote 24 hours a day to it - I do have a *real* job :)"
Anyway, at the (sometimes not so gentle) prodding of Miguel and Mike Shaver, I've imported the fruits of my labor onto the gnome cvs server.
'cvs co gnomefe' should get you everything. It's not complete - it doesn't even work at present -- the backend seems to have broken out things from underneath me, but before it's recent death, it was displaying text and form elements...links were very nearly working...not much else.
Chris"
