Someone contacted Android Central saying they'd apparently found Google's yet-to-be-released Pixel Watch — left behind at a restaurant.
The images of what could be the watch seem to match many rumors that have leaked, including the minimalist design, the crown, and a potential hidden button. It looks like the watch has proprietary Google bands.... The image also confirms one of the rumored colors that the watch will come in: black....
The source indicated that the bottom "looks metallic but feels like it's coated with glass."

My first thought was - this was an awfully convenient "accident". But I have my doubts this will have it's intended effect of kick-starting the hype-mobile - almost no one cares about a Google watch at this point.

There have been quite a few "misplaced prototype in restraunt" events in recent years.
I wonder if this is some sort of end runaround the powers to be that are forbiding official press releases.

Someone who has a prototype watch they want to show someone else, that's who. However, in this case since the box was included as part of the find, I'm going to guess that it fell out of the pocket of someone's Patagonia jacket or maybe it was meant to be given to someone who accidentally left it behind.

"Secret prototypes" typically are not allowed to exit highly controlled areas, so it's extremely unlikely anybody was allowed to take it to a restaurant.
Just like what Apple did in the past, this clearly was intentional. Yes they may act as if it was an accident, but if it was, they'd have very stupid people.

My friend had a Fitbit and the strap broke twice before she gave up on it. When she took it back to the store, they said this was really common and that they'd had tons of returns.
Can't believe they're sticking with it for new products!
Given that they were just replacing the whole unit when this happened, because the strap couldn't be repaired, it doesn't even make sense in a cynical "doing it to sell more straps" kind of way.

As with everything else Google does, unless the product increases ad revenue it will never be given any serious attention. The release of this sort of chaff is to make the average person think they are a diverse technology company, which distracts from what they actually are, an advertising company.

Wow, who would ever have guessed in our wildest dreams that they would ship the thing in black. What’s next? A stainless steel watch band option? Gotta love those color choices, really something unique.

The Apple Design of a rounded edge square is obliviousy the better functional format for a display watch on almost every front than preference for a round face, which definitely can be pretty and more traditional but since Apple took the market for real first Google doesnt want to be seen copying it I imagine.
Just make it more angular and modern but a circlular display is good at being a clock a thermostat a thats about it.

Hope that doesn't mean the attachment to the case isn't non-standard. I love my Tic Watch Pro 3 Ultra but the band is just blah. I got a nice metal replacement on Amazon for $18. Now it looks top notch.
